They absolutely are. Overweight animals are at higher risk for diabetes, heart problems, and loads of other issues depending on breed type. They also tend to live shorter lives than their leaner counterparts. It is sad that many people think it’s "funny" or "cute" when their animal is overweight, but in reality it’s just sad and cruel to the animal.
